Taken from the new iPad SDK you can see that there is an option to take a photo yet the iPad’s spec sheet does not contain information on a camera. Most likely there will only be an external camera that will attach to the iPad. Hopefully they surprise us all and include a camera.
Take a look at this screen grab from Apple’s event that took place on January 27, 2010. This was taken at 9 minuets and 9 seconds into the event. Does this look like a camera to you? Hopefully the rumors are true that a camera can fit into the iPad chassis. Now the first revisions of the iPad may not include the camera, but may be added later on.
So the iPad was destined for a camera….. But where on earth did it go?
A comment by Mission Repair when they received their first shipment of replacement iPad parts:
We pulled a camera from a Unibody MacBook. Just a standard camera unit that we see everyday.
Guess what, it fits right in there. The camera slips in the frame, the lens fits in the hole, the LED that indicates that the camera is on, fits, and the ambient light sensor hole is also correct. It appears that the plans to have camera in the iPad is a reality. I’m looking forward to the iPad. . .Rev 2.
Well the answer is still unknown, maybe it’ll come out with the first batch of iPads, or the second, we’ll keep you updated
